New Website to File and Pay Philadelphia City Wage Tax
The City of Philadelphia is launching a new tax filing and payment website on November 1, 2021. The City will no longer accept paper copies of the annual Wage Tax reconciliation return. In addition, the City will no longer permit payments on the old eFile/ePay site or through ACH Debit over the phone.
Effective November 1, 2021, the below procedures must be followed:
- File and pay Wage Tax ONLY electronically on the Philadelphia Tax Center.
- File returns quarterly starting in 2022, providing a weekly schedule.
Please note: Wage Tax payments should be paid with the same frequency as before.
The first filing date in the new schedule is May 2, 2022. However, the City recommends you take three actions next week:
- Visit the Philadelphia Tax Center and bookmark its web address: https://tax-services.phila.gov.
- Ensure your mailing address with the Department of Revenue is up to date. To switch over to the new site, the Department of Revenue will mail you a physical letter with a verification code. If you need to update your address, please use the form available at: www.phila.gov/tax-change. Unsure what the Department has on file? Call (215) 686-6600.
- Create a username and password, and request your verification letter. It may take 5-10 business days to receive the letter, but this one-time process helps keep your personal and tax information safe.
An online guide regarding the new protocols may be accessed by visiting: www.phila.gov/guides/Philadelphia-Tax-Center. In addition to learning about several important changes, video tutorials will also be available. The Department will add content to the guide before November 1, and after, but it is recommended to sign up to get email updates directly in your inbox.
Should you run into any difficulties, contact the Philadelphia Department of Revenue directly at (215) 686-6600 to help resolve any issues with the Philadelphia Tax Center.
