Horsham, PA - Februrary 2012 - John Maloney, CPA resident of North Wales, PA and Partner at Wouch Maloney & Co., LLP in Horsham, PA, has recently attained Accreditation in Business Appraisal Review (ABAR) from the Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA), the oldest professional society devoted solely to the appraisal of closely-held businesses. The IBA is the nationally-recognized pioneer organization of business appraisal in the U.S. There are fewer than 150 professionals who have earned this prestigious accreditation world-wide. The ABAR certification is a unique credential that specifically qualifies its holders to issue an opinion on the credibility of business appraisal reports prepared by other appraisers in accordance with newly standardized review practices. In addition to Mr. Maloney’s certification as a CPA, he holds credentials in certified financial forensics (CFF) and business valuation as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA).
The Executive Director of the IBA, a former National Program Manager of the Valuation Program at the Internal Revenue Service states that “The ABAR is a breakthrough of enormous implications for upgrading the credibility of business appraisals. Many people can’t tell if appraisals are reliable, so they unknowingly base irrevocable decisions on faulty appraisals. Now we can help by protecting uncertainties before they harm the public.” Mr. Maloney’s ABAR credential enables him to identify strengths and potential weaknesses in appraisal reports as an expert’s expert.
Mr. Maloney provides added value to the solutions of complex business issues that Wouch Maloney delivers to its clients. His accreditation in multiple disciplines brings additional expertise to his firm, and is invaluable to Wouch Maloney’s clients.
Mr. Maloney assists attorneys in matters relating to arbitration, mediation, mergers and acquisitions, litigation support services, and tax matters including incomes tax and gift and estate taxes. He also assists attorneys in situations where an independent opinion regarding the credibility of the work product of a business appraiser is useful to third parties. He has represented clients in litigation support services testifying as an expert witness in matters related to valuation and damages in various jurisdictions, and has acted as an independent accountant in resolving disputes related to accounting issues.
Mr. Maloney has lectured on accounting, tax and valuation issues. He is active in various trade organizations in the construction industry, and currently serves as President of the Bucks County Estate Planning Council.
